zData is an API service designed for working with mainframe data sources. zData interfaces natively with IBM Z data assets in real-time and empowers a huge range of data-centric activities such as data discovery, data integration, data migration, BA/BI, and Open Banking.

Available zData functions include LIST (used for data discovery) and READ (used for data unloads). The data unload function supports two response models:

Response data in memory via JSON object (virtualization) for data transformation, masking, analytics, etc; and
Data transfer option for direct unloads off mainframe (CSV files, text, or binary files).
